DepEd Teachers to get ₱5,000 cash allowance

Department of Education (DepEd) teachers are expected to receive a ₱5,000 cash allowance on Monday (August 22, 2022) during the opening of classes.

DepEd spokesperson Atty. Michael Wesley Poa announced the matter during the Joint OVP-DepEd press conference yesterday (August 19).

We would like to announce na sa pasukan, August 22, we will be giving our teachers yung tinatawag nating cash allowance na ₱5,000. This is just to augment and give them additional assistance doon sa mga kakailanganin nila sa pagbabalik skwela,” Atty. Poa said.

(We would like to announce that on the opening of classes, we will be giving our teachers what we call a “cash allowance” of ₱5,000. This is just to augment and give them additional assistance with what they will need when they return to school.)

“Everyone will get it. I’ll confirm that it will be distributed to school divisions, but everyone will have it by August 22,” he added.

Prior to the announcement, the DepEd released a Memorandum on August 4, 2022 on the advisory on the processing and payment of the fiscal year 2022 cash allowance of ₱5,000 to teachers and will be received not earlier than August 22.

Additionally, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said that it will expand the distribution of PagbaBago bags carrying school supplies and hygiene kits to more areas.
