Good news! to all PNP Applicants for the year 2026.

The PNP Recruitment and Selection Service (PNP RSS) has announced through their official Facebook page that they are now accepting application folders from PNP applicants starting from TBA.

The said application folders must be submitted to their respective Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit (RSSU) of their Police Regional Office (PRO) where the applicant resides.

The Philippine National Police is in need of NEW POLICE OFFICERS (Patrolman/Patrolwoman) for Calendar Year 2026 Regular and Attrition Recruitment Program with a monthly base pay of Php 31,151.

To know more about specific application folders, color, format, and what to bring, you may visit your respective regional offices of the PNP Recruitment and Selection Service Facebook page. Each regional office has implemented different color coding of application folders.

Acceptance of Application period: APRIL 2026 (TENTATIVE)

Applicants are remined of the following:

1. Body Mass Index (BMI) with the maximum passing value of 26.5.

2. Practice and exercise daily for Physical Agility Test (PAT). All applicants are required to pass all stages and must meet the following minimum standard:

a. Sit-up: Male – 35 (1 minute)

Female – 25 (1 minute)

b. Push-up: Male – 35 (1 minute)

Female – 25 (1 minute)

c. 3KM Run: Male – 19 minutes

What is an appointment under a Waiver Program?

1. The age, height and weight for initial appointment to the PNP may be waived only when the number of qualified applicants falls below the approved national;/regional quota;

2. The NAPOLCOM en banc may grant height waiver to a member of an indigenous group within the region as certified by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) or Office on Muslim Affairs (OMA);

3. Waiver of the age requirement may be granted only provided the applicant is not less than 20 nor more than 35 years of age;

4. Waiver of the height requirement may granted to a male applicant who is 1.57m and a female applicant who is 1.52m. A lower height requirement may be set for applicants belonging to indigenous group as certified by the NCIP

GUIDE: Physical, Medical and Dental Examination (PMDE) for PNP Applicants

Congratulations for passing the Neuro-Psychiatric Exam (considered as the hardest test in the recruitment process).

Now, let’s proceed to the next phase of the recruitment, the PMDE or the Physical, Medical and Dental Examination. Under this phase, the PNP Health Service is in-charge/task to determine whether or not the applicant is in good health, free from any contagious diseases, a physical and medical examination.

On the first day of the PMDE, the applicants are required to fill up the Medical History Report and Medical Prescreen Questionnaire distributed by the RHS personnel purposely to record all information of applicant’s health. Through this report, the PNP doctors/examiners may now have an overview of medical condition of the applicant/s as to whether or not he is undergoing treatment or suffering from disease.

The Medical History Report may include information about allergies, illnesses, surgeries, immunizations, and results of physical exams and tests. It may also include information about medicines taken and health habits, such as diet and exercise. A family medical history includes health information about a applicant’s close family members (parents, grandparents, children, brothers, and sisters). This includes their current and past illnesses.

The applicant must secure a copy of the PNP Applicants ID, attach a PASSPORT SIZE ID Picture with Name-tag in white background and have it laminated. This ID will be a requirement during the conduct of PMDE.

NOTE: Tuberculosis is a highly contagious bacterial infection that can quickly spread under certain conditions. It is an airborne disease, and can be caught by breathing in the air that an infected person has contaminated through: Breathing, Coughing, Talking and Sneezing. So as much as possible, applicant should be cautious about dealing with other co-applicant because every recruitment cycle there will always be applicant who found positive in tuberculosis.

4. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart.

5. Urinalysis test – is used as a screening and/or diagnostic tool because it can help detect substances or cellular material in the urine associated with different metabolic and kidney disorders. It is ordered widely and routinely to detect any abnormalities that require follow up. It is used to detect urinary tract infections (UTIs) and other disorders of the urinary tract. In those with acute or chronic conditions, such as kidney disease, the urinalysis may be ordered at intervals as a rapid method to help monitor organ function, status, and response to treatment.

6. Blood Chemistry Examination

9. GPE or General Physical Exam – body check-up such as scars, tattoos, varicose veins, hemorrhoids and hernia are grounds for disqualification.

At this stage, the applicants are required to perform PNP dozen exercise/s and to run 3 to 5 rounds (oval) prior to the conduct of GPE.

Blood Pressure (BP) Screening

If your blood pressure is high at one reading, that doesn’t mean you have high blood pressure. Blood pressure can vary depending on your activity level and time of day, and can be higher if you are sick or in pain.

Blood pressure is measured using a device called a sphygmomanometer. Usually you are seated with your arm resting on a table. A cuff is placed around your upper arm and inflated until it stops the blood flow. Then the cuff is slowly deflated, allowing blood to flow again. As the cuff deflates, a stethoscope is used to listen to the blood flow in an artery at your inner elbow.

The first thumping sound heard reflects the blood pressure as the heart contracts (systolic pressure). When the thumping sound disappears, this is the lowest amount of pressure (diastolic) between heartbeats. Some use automated machines which take blood pressures. (Source: https://k-p.li/2JZmzmB)

Preparing for your screening

To prepare for a blood-pressure screening, follow these guidelines:

– Don’t smoke or have caffeine for 30 minutes before the test.

– Rest for at least 5 minutes before the test.

– Sit in a chair with your back and feet supported, and your arm supported at heart level.

10. Dental Exam -Full dentures upper and lower are disqualified.

11. Other laboratory examinations as requested by attending physician/s to aid in the diagnosis of diseases or determination of status of medical condition of an examinee. It also includes second opinion from other private or public medical laboratory referred by the PNP Health Service. However, the Pregnancy Test for female applicants is conducted on or at least one day before taking oath.

Grounds for DISQUALIFICATION (DQ)

(color blindness, near sighted/far sighted with corrective eyeglasses or lens, nystagmus);

Full dentures, Cleft lip and palate, malocclusion, Deformities of the face, Open bite, Speech defect, four(4) missing front teeth and/or six (6) posterior/molars;

Perforated ear drum, chronic sinusitis, bleeding tendencies, hemorrhoids (almurans), hernia/luslos (if not treated), varicocoele, extensive skin disorders;

Congenital Diseases, Communicable Diseases Etc; (TB, HEPA B, etc)

This phase may take 2-3 weeks or even a month depending on the number of applicants. The health service personnel are expected the applicant to be at the area from 7am (assembly/formation time) to 5 or 6pm. Just a tip though, always prepare a song/dance move or any skills during “happy hour” or we called it as “PROLEX.”

GENERAL QUALIFICATION
FOR APPOINTMENT

• A citizen of the Philippines;

• A person of good moral character;

THE SCREENING COMMITTEE

The Regional Director shall establish an Ad Hoc Screening Committee in each provincial office that shall be responsible for the widest dissemination of vacancies in the area and determination of the fitness of police applicants.

The Screening Committee shall be composed as follows:

a. City/Municipal Screening Committee • Vice-Mayor designated as Chairman

• DILG CLGOO/MLGO as Vice-Chairman

• POC Member from the Academe designated as Member

• City Director (for City Level)/Chief of Police (Municipal Level) and Member

b. Provincial Screening Committee

The Chief Assistant Provincial Director for Administration or any PNP Senior Officer in the province designated by the Provincial Director.

• NAPOLCOM Official to be designated by the NAPOLCOM Regional Director

• Private citizen of known probity and integrity in the province to be designated by the Provincial Governor

• PLEB Chairman in the locality where the selection will be undertaken

• PPOC Representative to be designated by the PPOC Chairman

c. Regional Screening Committee

• PNP Deputy – Regional Director for Administration or any PNP Senior Officer in the Regional Command designated by the PNP Regional Director – Chairman

• Private citizen of know probity and integrity in the region to be designated by the Provincial Governor of the province where the Regional Command Headquarters is situated.

Additional Screening and Recruitment Committees, however, may be constituted by the PNP General Headquarters to facilitate expeditious and efficient processing of applications, provided the herein required membership shall be followed.

SCREENING PROCEDURE

a. Preliminary Interview/Screening – A point system shall be applied in the assessment and evaluation of the measurable qualification standards possessed by an individual applicant. The applicant shall be interviewed personally by the Screening Committee. If the applicant qualifies, he/she shall be required to present or accomplish the following:

b. Physical Agility Test (15 pts) – The Screening Committee shall require the applicant to undergo a physical agility test designed to determine whether or not he possesses the required coordination, strength and speed of movement necessary for service.

The PAT is composed of following events done in sequential order:

(b.1) 1 Minute Push-up with passing score of 35 repetition for male and 25 repetition for female (bench push-up);

(b.2) 1 Minute Sit-ups (35 reps for male and 25 reps for female); and

(b.3) 3- Kilometer run (19 mins for male and 21 mins for female).

Physical Agility Test is one of the requirements by the PNP in order to evaluate the physical qualification of these aspiring Patrolman/woman applicants whether he or she possess the required condition such as strength and speed applicable in the service. The Screening Committee composed of personnel from RPHRDD and Regional Health Service took the lead as the screening committee.

Physical Agility Test:

Maximum Total – 100 pts

Passing Score: – 75 pts

c. Psychological and/or Neuro Psychiatric Test – To exclude applicants who may be suffering from any mental disorder, the applicant shall take a psychological and/or neuro-psychiatric test to be administered by the PNP, or any duly recognized institution and meet all the requirements in paragraph (a) above.

d. Character and Background Investigation – The Screening Committee shall cause an intensive investigation to be conducted on the character and background of the applicant with the view of determining his character reputation and possible involvement in any questionable or criminal activities as well as his propensity toward violence or use of force.

e. Physical/Menta/Dental Examination – In order to determine whether or not the applicant is in good health, free from any contagious diseases, a physical and medical examination must be conducted by the city/municipal health officer or PNP medical officer after he/she qualified for preliminary interview.

f. Final interview (25 pts) – The Screening Committee shall interview the qualified applicant for suitability for police work. The interview shall aid in determining likeableness, affability, attitude towards work, outside interest, forcefulness, conversational ability, disagreeable mannerism, etc.

g. Oath-Taking – After the final deliberation and through selection among the qualified applicants, the successful applications shall take their oath of Office.

h. Probationary – period of at least twelve (12) months.

The New Patrolman/woman must undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) and Field Training Program in order to attain permanent status.

The 5 Things Every PNP Applicant Needs to Know

Every year, the Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted the regular and attrition recruitment program to all aspiring police officer who possesses the requirements under Republic Act No. 8551.

After complying with such requirements, PNP applicants must submit their folders to their respective Police Regional Offices [Attn: Recruitment and Selection Service (RSS)].

As you’re now entering the PNP Camp to submit your PNP application folders or processing your application, I suggest that you follow these 5 things every PNP applicant needs to know.

1. Be mentally, physically, emotionally and financially prepared

There are five phases in the PNP recruitment process:

a) Initial Interview;

b) Neuro-Psychiatric Exam;

c) Physical Agility Test;

d) Physical, Medical and Dental Examination; and

e) Final Interview.

Every phase of the recruitment process, you must know how to adjust and budget your time, money, and effort. If you’re currently working in a private company while applying to the PNP, I suggest that you must file an appropriate leave of absence in your company. Never Resign! Cause you’re not sure yet!

Budget your money especially during PMDE (MEDICAL) phase because PNP Doctors MAY require the second opinion of your laboratory test result from other government-affiliated clinics.

Why do you need to be emotionally and mentally prepared?

The application process may run from 2-3 months depending on the number of applicants. Certain rules may be implemented during the process such as “Prolex” or happy hour where an applicant must entertain their co-applicants while waiting for the result – it can be a song/dance move or any skills.

2. The Buddy System

Meriam-Webster defined Buddy System as a procedure of which two individuals, the “buddies”, operate together as a single unit so that they can monitor and help each other.

Your buddy is the one who will remind or caution you each time you made an unnecessary movement inside the camp. Whether you jog, walk or run, your movement should be synchronized with your buddy as it is part of the training.

Rule: Never leave your buddy even on personal necessities.

3. Learn the PNP Drills and Ceremonies

The PNP has prescribed its drill regulations with the end goal of cultivating to the full, alertness in the presence of mind of every police personnel, not only during drill but at all times. (Ref: https://bit.ly/2DOY2jz)

The drill consists of certain movements by which the police-type squad, platoon, company or battalion is moved in an orderly manner from one formation to another or from one place to another or both. These movements are executed with smartness, order, and precision. Each individual in the squad, platoon, or company does his part exactly as what he is supposed to do.

The primary purpose of drill is to teach a precise and orderly way of doing things.

To help understand the meaning of the basic drill terms, the following definitions are included:

Cadence – is the uniform rhythm by which a movement is executed or the number of steps or counts per minute of which a movement is executed. Drill movements are normally executed at the cadence of quick time or double time.

Double Time – Cadence at a rate of 180 steps per minute.

Formation: Arrangement of the elements of a unit in line, in column or any

other prescribed manner.

Partial changes of direction: To change the direction of a column by forty—five (45) degrees to the left or right, the command is LIKO HATING-KANAN (KALIWA), KAD. To execute a slight change of direction, the command PAGAWING KANAN (KALIWA), is given. The guide or guiding elements move in the indicated direction, and the rest of the unit follows.

To revoke a command: To cancel a command that has not been carried out, or to start a movement improperly begun from a halt the command, MANUMBALIK, is given. On this command, the movement stops, and the men resume their former position.

In the command of execution for example, the words RAP, NA, KAD, TA and others are sometimes misused/interchanged as the commander may opt to what he thinks is appropriate.

In general, the word NA is used to signal the command of execution except the following:

a) TA – (Abbreviated SANDATA) manual of arms for rifles and pistol, except for KALIS and TALIBONG, which fall under the general rule.

b) KAD – (Abbreviated LAKAD) from at rest to motion. Example: PASULONG, KAD. For other commands given while in motion, the general rule will apply. Example: LIKO SA KANAN, NA.

c) TO – (Abbreviated HINTO) from motion to rest.

d) RAP – (Abbreviated HARAP) in HANDA HARAP as literal translation of READY FRONT.

e) DA – (Abbreviated HUMANDA) for attention.

f) NGA – (Abbreviated PAHINGA) in “TIKAS PAHINGA” or PARADE REST.

4. Low Profile Attitude

They say that “skills can be taught, but attitude is forever.”

Most human resource personnel hired an applicant based on attitude because everything can be learned as long as you’re hardworking and willing to learn.

Research has shown that your attitude is the most important aspect in defining how well you do in life.

Applicants are competitive during the application process which can lead to achievement and academic bragging contests.

Maintain that Low key attitude but keep an eye on the prize.

5. Failure is part of Success

If you fail or your name is not on the list of recommended or candidates for oath-taking, don’t worry just re-apply for the next quota as long as your age meets the aforementioned requirement – you can still RE-APPLY.

The PNP Applicant’s Journey (PART 2)

On the first part of this article, we briefly discussed the history of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the requirements and the additional eligibilities for applying as a non-commissioned police officer. On the continuation of the article, we will talk about the procedure for applying as a non-commissioned officer of the PNP and then we will move on to how one can become a commissioned officer through the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

The Application Process

All the required documents which shall be submitted shall be authenticated by the relevant authorities. Applicants who are from cultural minorities can also get waivers for the height and weight requirements under RA 6975 as it was amended by RA 8551.

If you are interested in becoming a non-commissioned officer of the PNP and you meet all the requirements that were listed on the first part of this article, then you can download the Recruitment Application Form. You can download the form directly from the PNP website.

Once you have completed the form, you can submit it to the PNP Recruitment and Selection Section, Office of the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division. You will have to include a 2X2 ID picture with the form. The PNP Recruitment and Selection Section will conduct the initial screening of the applicants.

The candidates who pass the initial screening will go through the following stages of the recruitment process:

1. Physical Agility Test

2. Psychiatric/Psychological Examination (PPE)

3. Physical, Medical, Dental Examination (PMDE)

4. Dug Test

5. Final Deliberation

The applicants who pass these stages will then take the oath of the newly recruited police officers. The new recruits will then undergo the trainings which have been mentioned on the first part of the article.

The Philippine National Police Academy

The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) is the Philippine public safety school under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). It trains and educates commissioned officers for the three services under the DILG, namely the PNP, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

If you are interested in becoming a commissioned police officer of the PNP, then the Academy is a great way of joining the organization. Cadets will get a 4-year scholarship and will receive an allowance during their stay in the academy. On top of that, cadets will also full accommodations and will be provided with the uniforms that they need during their training.

Cadets of the PNPA who join the PNP are conferred BS Public Safety Major in National Police when they graduate and attain the rank of Lieutenant in the PNP.

The following are initial qualifications for applicants to the PNPA:

• Natural born Filipino citizen

• 18 to 22 years old on the date of appointment

• Single

• No parental obligation

• At least Senior High School graduate on the date of admission;

• Height requirements: least 162.5cm. for male and 157.5 cm. for female

• Weight corresponding to the applicant’s height, gender, and age in reference to BMI

• Physically and mentally fit

• With good moral character

• Applicants must not have criminal, administrative and civil derogatory record

• Applicants must not have pending complaint and/or case before any tribunal

• Must not be a former cadet of PNPA, or other service academies

• Must not have been dismissed from any private employment or government position

Once completed, the form, together with a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate from the PSA, should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar of the PNPA. The PNP Applicant’s Journey (PART 1)

If you’re reading this, then you’re probably interested in becoming a police officer. Maybe you know someone interested in doing the same. Joining the police force is a good way of serving your community and your country while getting a stable career at the same time.

You should realize by now, that it’s not that easy. This series of articles can serve as a guide for your application process. We’ll discuss the steps, the requirements, what you need to do, where you can go, and some tips that can increase your chances of making it.

Background

Before we discuss how you can become a police officer, we need to step back and look back a bit at the history of the organization that you want to join. To become a police officer in the Philippines, you will have to join the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Although the PNP was officially formed in 1991, the Philippines has had police forces for a long time. During the Spanish era, police duties were shared by the Civil Guard and the Island Carabiniers. The Americans then established the Philippine Constabulary (PC). Eventually, the PC was merged with the Integrated National Police to form the present-day PNP.

The PNP is part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and is administered by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM). Local police units are controlled by city and municipal mayors. The DILG, on the other hand is responsible for the training and providing equipment to police officers, as well as handling police matters which are national in scope.

Recruitment of Police Officers

The PNP regularly recruits new police officers. The entry level for non-commissioned officers is Police Patrolman/Police Patrolwoman. New recruits are required to undergo the six-month-long Public Safety Basic Recruit Course. After that, they will have to undergo the Field Training Program, which also lasts for another six months. Before the new police officers are assigned to their real duties, they will have to undergo more training to better prepare them for their assignment in the field.

Commissioned officers of the PNP are from the Philippine National Police Academy. Officers also come from the Lateral Entry Program, which accepts professionals from relevant fields like criminologists, engineers, doctors, lawyers, and other technical fields.

How to Apply

This is the section that you are probably most interested in. These are the requirements that have been set by the PNP for those wanting
to become non-commissioned officers:

· Must be a Filipino citizen.

· Must not be younger than 21 years old and not older than 30 years old.

· The applicant must be a person of good moral conduct.

· Must have passed the following tests that are administered by the PNP or hospitals that are accredited by the NAPOLCOM:

1. Drug test

2. Psychiatric test

3. Physical test

· Must have a baccalaureate degree from a reputable and recognized institution.

· Must meet the standards that have been set by NAPOLCOM.

· Must not have been dishonorably discharged from the military.

· Must not have been dismissed from a civilian government position.

· Must have not been convicted of a crime which involves moral turpitude.

· Must meet the minimum height requirements (162 cm for males and 157 cm for females)

· Weight must not deviate by 5 kgs from the recommended normal weight for one’s age, height, and sex.

Additional Eligibilities

Aside from the requirements listed above, an applicant must have passed or possess any of the following exams or eligibilities:

· NAPOLCOM Examination (PNP Entrance Exam)

· Career Service Professional

· RA NO. 1080 (Board and Bar Examinations)

· RA. 6506 (Board of Criminologist)

· PD No. 907 (Civil Service Eligibility for College Honor Graduates)

· PD No. 997 (Presidential Decree giving civil service eligibility to scientific and technological specialists)

Electronic copies or scanned copies of these documents shall be uploaded during the online registration and the hard copies shall be presented before applicants take the tests at the examination venues.

HOW TO APPLY (Philippine Air Force Officer/Soldier)

Applicants may register and access the PAF Online Registration System starting 8:00am of (to be announced).

Due to the health threat brought by the current pandemic, walk-in applications are NOT ALLOWED. Instead, all aspiring applicants are encouraged to apply online using the PAF Online Recruitment Portal.

All qualified applicants shall be notified later on the examination date and venue. Minimum health protocols shall be observed in the conduct of the examinations.

Those who have already applied in the various processing centers before the Enhanced Community Quarantine and together with the online applicants will be notified of their examinations schedule and venue.

Applicants need to keep their communication lines open for any notification or announcements. (Check your email and mobile phone from time to time)

For those applicants who took the examination last year but failed to pass, they can still apply provided the applicant satisfies the prescribed qualifications.

NOTE: The PAF General Classification Test (PAFGCT) shall be taken every recruitment cycle. However, the retake for AFP Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) shall only be allowed once for an applicant and it shall be conducted at least six (6) months after the initial examination.

Training period for OC and CS and Training Center

Training period for CS is 4 months while OC is 15 months. The training is held at the Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command at Fernando Air Base, Lipa City, Batangas.

Results are usually published 15 days after the last day of the scheduled nationwide examinations. However, the publication of exam results may change due to unforeseen factors.
