MAY 2024 Chemical Engineers (ChemEng) Licensure Exam Results

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has released the result of the May 2024 Chemical Engineers (ChemEng) Licensure Examination and announced that out of 928 examinees, only 640 (68.97%) passed the said exam.

The three-day examination was conducted by the PRC Board of Chemical Engineering at various testing centers across the National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Iloilo, Davao, Legazpi, Lucena, Cagayan de Oro, Rosales, and Cebu on May 21–23, 2024.

ChemEng Examination Coverage

a) PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PRINCIPLES (30%)– Chemistry for Engineers; Analytical Chemistry; Organic Chemistry; Physical Chemistry for Engineers; Fundamentals of Material Science; Environmental Science and Engineering.

b) CHEMICAL ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES (40%)– Chemical Engineering Calculations; Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics; Solution Thermodynamics; Transport Phenomena and Momentum Transfer; Heat and Mass Transfer; Particle Technology; Separation Processes; Chemical Reaction Engineering; Plant Design; Biochemical Engineering

c) GENERAL ENGINEERING (30%)– Engineering Calculus; Engineering Data Analysis; Differential Equations; Industrial Process Safety; Engineering Economics; Engineering Management; Engineering Mechanics; Laws and Ethics for Chemical Engineers and Process Safety; Process Control and Analysis; Chemical Process Industries; Industrial Waste Management and Control.

What happens next after passing the May 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Exam?

After passing the ChemEng exam, there are two important things with which a successful examinee must comply: the oathtaking and the PRC ID.

The target date of ChemEng oath taking will be July 2024, as per PRC Resolution No. 1601(A) series of 2024.

As part of the health and safety protocol, inductees shall bring any of the following on the day of the oathtaking:

a. Vaccination Card

b. Negative RT-PCR results taken within 48 hours before the oathtaking

ChemEng Passing Score

According to Republic Act No. 9297, or the “Chemical Engineering Law of 2004,” in order to pass the chemical engineering licensure exam, examinees must obtain an overall weighted average of no less than 70% and no rating lower than 50% in any subject.

The May 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination ratings, administered by the PRC Board of Chemical Engineering, will be conveniently accessible through an online portal for verification.
