Do you have what it takes to be a Corrections Officer?

For its Recruitment Cycle 2023, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is now accepting applications.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is under the Department of Justice that is responsible for the safekeeping and rehabilitation of prisoners who have been sentenced by the courts. It does so in a progressive, effective, and productive manner. National prisoners are those in BuCor’s custody who have been sentenced to three years or more in prison.

Who are qualified to apply?

Applicants who choose to serve as a Corrections Officer I for the Bureau must meet the following requirements:

ü  A citizen of the Republic of the Philippines;

ü  A person of good moral character;

ü  Must possess a baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution;

ü  Must possess the appropriate civil service eligibility;

ü  Must not have been dishonorably discharged or dismissed for a cause from previous employment;

ü  Must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude; and

ü  Must not be less than twenty-one (21) or not more than forty (40) years of age; and

ü  Must be at least one meter and sixty-two centimeters (1.57m.) in height for male, and one meter and fifty-seven centimeters (1.52m.) for female. Provided, that a waiver for height and age requirement/s may be granted to applicants belonging to the cultural communities

Prior to submission of folders, applicants must secure the following:

a. BIR Number or Tax Identification Number

b. PAG-IBIG Number

c. Philhealth Number

What are the documentary requirements for submission?

Applicants must adhere to the color-coding of their application folders:

a. for Correction Officer Applicants: LONG WHITE FOLDER

b. for Corrections Technical Officer Applicants: LONG BROWN FOLDER

c. for Non-Uniformed Personnel Applicants: LONG YELLOW FOLDER

All folders whether white, brown, or yellow have the same table contents. Below is the 2023 Table of Contents:

1. Folder for Application (TABBED):

A. Letter of intent

Addressed to:

Thru: MS. MARY JANE N. JULIO

          Chief, Human Resource Division

B. Three (3) copies of duly-accomplished CSC Form 212 Revised 2017 Personal Data Sheet (PDS) with attached (Work Experience Sheet (WES);

C. Two (2) copies of AUTHENTICATED Certificate of Board Rating (CSC, PRC) and its official receipt

D. Authenticated Copy Transcript of Records and Authenticated Certification from School/CHED

E. Original PSA Birth Certificate (Official Receipt to be presented)

F. Original PSA Marriage Certificate (if applicable)

G. Original PSA Birth Certificate of Children (if applicable)

H. One (1) Valid Original NBI Clearance

I. One (1) valid Local Police Clearance

J. Certified true copy of Latest IPCR rating and SERVICE RECORD for former/active government employees.

If TERMINATED, submit certified true copy of DECISION/RESOLUTION coming from previous agency

K. One (1) copy of NICP or NCMF Certification of Confirmation (COC) for applicants who do not meet the height requirement

L. Authenticated/Certified True Copies of Training Certificates

2. Folder for BuCor IID

A. Duly/Properly Accomplished Personal Data Sheet (PDS) must be notarized (Please refer to Guide to Filling Out the Personal Data Sheet)

B. Original copies of clearances from the following agencies:

ü  One (1) NBI Clearance

ü  One (1) PNP Directorate for Intelligence (D.I.) Clearance

ü  One (1) Local Police Clearance

ü  One (1) Barangay Clearance

ü  One (1) RTC, MTC, Prosecution Clearance

C. PSA Birth Certificate*

D. PSA Marriage Certificate (if married)*

E. Education Certificates*

F. Certificate of Employment (if previously employed)*

G. Passport (if any)*

H. Notarized waiver/authority to allow BuCor to undergo a background Investigation

I. Sketch of house/residence from landmarks

J. Two (2) pcs of latest colored 2×2 picture (Not Photoshopped)

NOTE: Requirements for tabbing letter C to G may be submitted as photocopies.

3. Folder for the Selection Board

A. Twelve (12) Photocopies of the original Personal Data Sheet

4. Folder for Attestation

A. Notarized and Duly-Accomplished (CSC Form 212 Revised 2017) Personal Data Sheet

B. AUTHENTICATED Certificate of Eligibility

NOTE: Only Folders 1 and 2 are to be initially submitted for pooling, folders 3 and 4 are to be submitted later announced date, subsequent to the result of the Agility test.
