Western Union removed from Google Adsense payment

Western Union removed from Google Adsense as mode of payment

Google has announced the latest updates informing all Youtubers, Bloggers, and Publisher that Western Union will no longer be available when choosing your form of payment.

“As of 10 August 2020, you will no longer be able to select Western Union as a new form of payment. We recommend that publishers currently using Western Union switch to another available payment method before payments through Western Union stop in early 2021. We will inform current users in advance as to when Western Union can no longer be used to receive payments in their country. Learn more about the other available forms of payment and how to set up your form of payment.”

Now, the most common question here is will the publishers, bloggers, and youtubers receive their Google Adsense payment via Western Union this August 21-26, 2020?

Before answering, I received an email yesterday (August 20, 2020) from Google directing me to choose a different way to receive payments.

On that email, Google said: Western Union disbursements to be discontinued.

As of early 2021, Google will stop disbursing payments through Western Union.

To continue to receive payments from Google, you must sign in to your account (Google AdSense, Google AdMob, Google Ad Manager) and add or select a different method for receiving payments.

Early 2021, No Western Union payment option.

After reading this message, I was shocked and a bit worried because I’m expecting to receive my payment tomorrow via Western Union.

We’ll the best solution here is to ask for help using Google Adsense Support. Several publishers explained that for those who were not able to select payment options as of August 10, 2020, Western Union will not anymore be included as part of a payment option and you will be left out of two options which is Bank Transfer or Checks.

Unfortunately for Asians especially the Philippines, most applicable is the wire/bank transfer because of the notion that you can’t utilize checks payment as long as wire transfer applies to that country.

The problem with wire/bank transfer is the minimum maintaining balance roughly from ₱2,000 to ₱3,000 (Philippine Peso) for the commercial bank.

Another problem with a wire transfer is the bank transaction fee. For example, if you’re using Banco de Oro (BDO), the transaction fee would be $10. Others like Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) its $14 transaction fee. It simply means that every time you receive payment from Google Adsense there will be an automatic transaction fee deduction of your payment.

Unlike in Western Union no transaction fee deduction but in wire transfer appropriate charge/fee will be applied.

For August 21-26, 2020 payment, we will still be able to receive our payments however for those newly monetize publishers they will be directed to comply with new payment options.

To fully set up your bank transfer as your new payment option, there will be a trial and error called Test Deposit –to test if you receive the payment on your bank transfer account.
