Gerald Anderson wearing TABAK badge at ABS-CBN Ball 2019

It was formerly known as the Star Magic Ball (known to be one of the most glamorous events in local showbiz) and renamed it to ABS-CBN Ball 2019. The star-studded event happened yesterday September 14, 2019 at Shangri-la, Fort in Bonifacio Global City.

Celebrating ABS-CBN’s 65th year, the theme for this year’s event was “Modern Filipiniana” which makes the whole affair even more exciting or at the very least inspiring.

At the said event, netizens noticed Gerald Anderson as he donned a green Barong Tagalog with “Tabak” pin (at left collar tip).

Is he authorized to wear the pin/badge of one of the world’s most elite military groups considering that he only completed 3-day Soldier’s Skills Orientation Training?

August 9 of this year, Anderson and nine other screen actors completed a three-day Soldier Skills Orientation Training at the First Scout Ranger Regiment in Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan.

Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto conferred the rank of private in the Army Reserve Component to Gerald Anderson, Elmo Magalona, Yves Flores, Nash Victoriano, Joseph Porciuncula, Ryan Laurino, Jeanifer Aniscal, Jumar Aniscal, Jalil Laidan, and Anthea Murfet.

According to Philippine Army, the military uniform (including medals, badges, patches etc) is a symbol of authority that must be used properly and with dignity. The unauthorized wearing by civilians impacts negatively on the image of the Philippine Army and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, apart from security implications.
